What is Model UN?

Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations (UN), where students roleplay as representatives of countries and attempt to solve real-world issues through active debate and discussion.

The goal of MUN is to nurture critical thinking within students, all the while testing their social networking, data extrapolation, debate, and public speaking. Via substantial debate, students are meant to work towards the drafting of a draft resolution-- a document consisting all the solutions proposed by students that serve to resolve the issues selected.

Through MUN, we seek to empower students from all backgrounds to speak their mind and solve issues, hoping to provide a platform for all members of society to become more versatile, proactive, and dynamic.

A Letter from the Secretaries-GENERAL

Dear Distinguished Delegates, Members of the Dais, and Partners,

At long last, it is our immense pleasure to invite you to the second iteration of SMK Bukit Jelutong's Model United Nations conference-- BJMUN 2022! Supported by the English Language Society of SMK Bukit Jelutong and the UNofficial Group, we at BJMUN seek to enable youths from all walks of life to receive more exposure to diplomacy and international affairs.

Last year, to much of our success, we had organised our first-ever online, international Model UN conference exclusive to our SMK Bukit Jelutong students. Witnessing the triumphant levels of exposure our students were presented with through BJMUN 2021, we yearn to provide the same opportunity to the rest of Malaysia, with a particular emphasis on SMK students as international issues are instrumental to the paradigm shift in education that we all seek to instigate.

  • Above all else, it is imperative to note that the entire BJMUN Secretariat and I remain committed to adaptability, accessibility, and transparency throughout the duration of the conference. As circumstances may escalate rapidly, we would like to hear from you all, seeing that our conference seeks to provide as much accessibility and opportunities for everyone to participate-- not just for this year, but to future years to come!

I would now like to urge you to roam around the rest of this website, not only to find the most suitable council for you, but to also find out more about us as a whole. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at elssmkbj@gmail.com.

Thank you, and we are beyond elated to see you all soon.

Kim Osman, Secretary-General BJMUN 2022

Suyashaa Srii, Deputy Secretary-General BJMUN 2022
